Halimeda algae is a calciferous macroalgae which requires ample available calcium and nutrients in the water. It grows best under a freshwater spectrum and once establish is a very fast grower. Normally it will self attach quickly to any surface and also a sand bed by producing a fast growing root system. This algae will often appear white when not given light for extended periods of time but is quick to resume its green colouration once under light. I will send rested pieces of halimeda with root systems already developing.
