Red Grape Botryocladia Macroalgae
Red Grape Botryocladia is a popular but hard to find red macroalgae. It grows in bush like shape with main round stems from which smaller branches grow. It has its' signature "red grapes" growing from almost every part of its' stems and branches. Botryocladia is easy to grow and doesn't require too bright light or much nutrient feeding, but will appreciate it. It attaches to rock using a strong hold fast. Botryocladia can sometimes shed its' red grapes from its stem, normally when stressed, however they are quick to regrow. Even the smallest piece of red stem will normally recover and grow into a healthy algae.
Cryptonemia crenulata
Cryptonemia crenulata is another highly sought after red macroalgae. It is extremely easy to care for and tolerates a wide range of conditions. As well a tough, it is also a very beautiful bright red algae. It grows initially from a hold fast, growing long red leaves, however new leaflets can grow from existing larger leaves. This growth pattern eventually creates a very dense bush like macroalgae which can grow quite large. It also grows small baby algae from it leaves which can be removed and placed elsewhere. This is an excellent algae for beginners.
